The People’s Anticorruption Movement picketed the Ministry of Health and Wellness, outside its New Kingston offices. The group says it is deeply concerned about the vaccines which will be administered to thousands of Jamaicans.
Lloyd D’ Aguilar, Convener for the movement says not only do they have questions regarding the manufacturing of the vaccines, but they also have concerns about its efficacy.
One common question among the group is the importance of a vaccine that does not guarantee immunity but only relieve the symptoms of the virus.
To add, one supporter of the movement Earl Anderson, says vaccines should not be mandatory as it will compromise the immune system
Anderson says the vaccine will create a cascade of situations. He adds that to date no one has identified, insulated or purified a coronavirus. This he says makes it clear what this vaccine is being tested against.
Additionally, many members of the group are suggesting that government invest in a better health care system rather than the procurement of vaccines.
