In a one-on-one CVM Live exclusive interview with retired former Senior Superintendent of Police, Reneto Adams, he admits that when he observes the present state of crime wreaking havoc across the country, he wished he was still in the force to assist.
Adams says it appears that the forces of law and order have seemingly gone soft in its approach to stem crime.
He says crimes including murder have become a cultural act in Jamaica.
He adds that successive Governments have spent a lot of money in an attempt to manage crime and equip the security forces.
Adams is of the view that forty per cent of crimes committed, with an exception of murder, are not being reported.
He is urging citizens to work with the security forces and report all criminal activities.
However, he states that when some reports are made the attitude of lawmen in some instances is nonchalant.
“The police force is being dictated to through the government by international organizations, ” he says.
