One wedding planner is happy with the scads of guests in June but believes there is a lot of focus on how many wedding planners make, looking over the fact that there has to be a major cut back in hands-on staff.
The owner of Borghinvilla in Discovery Bay, St. Ann says for the past year, the COVID-19 restrictions have made it difficult to keep the wedding bells ringing at the venue; mostly for couples overseas.
Now that fifty (50) persons are allowed at weddings, this is undoubtedly good news for the wedding planner.
Jennifer Borgh expects about 60 to 70 percent of upcoming weddings at the venue to be attended by around 50 people. But, she says there’s an issue. Jennifer Borgh says the increased gathering limit is only until the end of June.
This she says poses a challenge, as she’s trying to keep summer bookings which were made several years ago, and had to be postponed last year.
The wedding planner says the biggest issue she’s had to deal with, is how badly her staff complement has been affected.
She is suggesting that the government extends the gathering limit for weddings to September, adding that getting Jamaicans back to work safely, is paramount.
Adding to that is the director of operations at Borghinvilla, Christian Broderick, who says a one-month commitment does not really help wedding planners; however, he says the change they need, doesn’t seem to be forthcoming.
