As some sections of the island experienced a portion of tropical storm Elsa’s strength, parishes like St. James and Portland remained safe for the most part.
As sections of the island experienced severe flooding on Sunday, as a result of torrential downpour caused by Tropical Storm Elsa, Portland remained safe for the most part.
Normally, areas in east Portland such as Folly Road, Harris Crescent, Matthews Avenue, West Street, and Manning Avenue would be flooded after heavy rainfall.
But when our news team visited these locations Sunday afternoon, the weather was fairly calm. it rained more heavily in the folly road area, but not to the extent of inconveniencing motorists.
It was somewhat the same situation in the second city; Montego Bay. Nothing out of the ordinary, as it rained lightly.
