The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause significant fear and uncertainty globally. Researchers at the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) have researched the frustration levels among Jamaicans before and during the pandemic.
Paul Bourne, one of the researchers, says though COVID-19 protocols are effective, policymakers should be aware of the negative effect a frustrated nation may have on increasing crime. Bourne says according to the research (8) eight out of 10 Jamaicans have indicated they are highly frustrated.
Bourne, the NCU researcher says while a nation consistently being restricted may not cause civil unrest it could result in pockets of disturbances across the country. Disturbances that he says will overwhelm law enforcers who have indicated that their frustration.
