As health officials continue to grapple with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, a medical officer in Hanover, Dr. Kaushal Singh says as the cases increase, vaccine hesitancy becomes more apparent.
As at Tuesday, August 10, the parish of Hanover has seen 1,637 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 37 people have died from the parish due to the virus. Hanover’s active case count stands at 358.
Dr. Singh says the increase in infection cases could be due to non-compliance with the existing protocols. Singh points out that the health centres in Lucea and sandy bay are open for vaccines to be administered, as well as health centers in Green Island, Hopewell, and Ramble.
Dr. Singh is urging residents to take advantage of the vaccines that are now available. He says the target is to vaccinate over 5000 people in the next two days.
