83-year-old Conroy Griffiths who is retired with his wife in Kingston, says he has reached optimum frustration with the Jamaica Public Service, as his monthly electricity bill has skyrocketed to an unbelievable high. According to Griffiths in 2017 he installed solar panels as means to keep his bills manageable. He says while the few first months were relatively smooth, the bills then drastically increased to unacceptable levels, over 500 percent, despite his consumption being consistent over the years.
Mr. Griffiths notes not many appliances are used and are left plugged in. He says the JPs have not sent him receipts to show any transaction of electricity being purchased.
When CVM LIVE contacted the Director of corporate communications at the JPs Winsome Callum, she says investigations show that Mr. Griffiths usage level has been fluctuating for some years. She says despite him using solar power, his electricity consumption is also from the national grid.
Griffiths however remains adamant and is calling for further investigations
