The homeless in May Pen Clarendon are among those in sections of the island that are not being left behind during the lockdown. However, the Mayor of May Pen, Winston Maragh, and his team tells CVM Live that before the tightened restrictions, the less fortunate are always fed.
Maragh says the ensures the homeless community is given a hot meal, whether or not there is a COVID-19 lockdown. However, the CEO of the Municipal Corporation, Rowhan Blake, stresses that additional effort has been made to feed the homeless on the no-movement days.
Edward, who has been homeless for about five years, says he is grateful to the Mayor and his team, adding that Tuesday’s lockdown hindered other assistance. Another man also expresses gratitude while explaining how the extra effort during the lockdown has benefited him.
