The Private Sector Vaccine Initiative (PSVI) is on a mission to support the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) in its national vaccination plan. Through working with companies over twelve thousand people have been vaccinated. The model of the PSVI incurs a cost for companies that want their employees to access the vaccines.
Most recently the Ministry of Tourism joined the effort to vaccinate workers in their sector. The administration of the vaccines does attract a cost of 9 US Dollars. This fee is not paid by employees and is instead covered by their respective companies. Project Lead, Saffery Brown, shares that the processing fee covers vaccine administration – doctors, nurses, transport – which is covered by the company
The PSVI’s a multi-lateral partnership among the Government of Jamaica and private sector groups. This initiative eases the burden from the government vaccination programme and speeds up productive sector vaccination. Brown commends the private sector for their participation.
Companies interested in creating a convenient avenue for the vaccination of their employees can visit the PSVI website to make that arrangement. PSVI vaccination efforts continue across the island.
