The Opposition People’s National Party, (PNP) says it is not averse to being part of the Government’s national vaccination initiative. This was after it was alleged they were not welcomed despite Prime Minister, Andrew Holness showing a letter inviting them to partner in the cause.
Jamaica remains one of six countries named in the Latin America and Caribbean region with under 20 percent COVID-19 vaccination rate. Addressing some issues at the PNP’s weekly media briefing Tuesday, October 19; the opposition, the People’s National Party alleges things could have been better but politics is at play.
Opposition Leader, Mark Golding also took a jab at the anti-corruption machinery questioning their effectiveness in light of recent scandals yielding little to no consequences for those at fault. Golding says the Andrew Holness-led administration failed to follow up with them to gain their input and support for the national vaccination initiative. He notes that is now ready to get on board and ramp up the country’s vaccination figures.
Meanwhile, he sought to provide clarity on recent remarks made concerning the ineffectiveness of the anti-corruption agencies amid growing scandals under the governing Jamaica Labour Party, (JLP).
