A convenient way to store and access patient history in hospitals or health centers is imminent and ICT solution has presented a good option. A signing ceremony by the Ministry of Health and Wellness solidified this initiative that is a partnership between the Development Bank of Jamaica and the Government of Jamaica.
According to Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, public health is used by 99.99 percent of the population. Recognizing the need to create a resilient public health infrastructure, 8.43 million US dollars will be invested to enhance health systems across the island. He says this will replace the outdated system of walking across the department to retrieve hard copy documents; a process he describes as counterproductive.
The Minister advised shareholders to anticipate the challenge of familiarizing health care workers with the technology. The project falls under the health systems strengthening programme which is considered an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Government of Jamaica (GOJ) partnership.
