The operators in the small town may very well have to endure another dark night as the utility company, the Jamaica Public Service, (JPS) works to restore the electricity. One business owner noted that she has to close her business earlier as the evenings are darker and therefore she along with other business persons are losing revenue and commission that they would have otherwise made.
Another business man added that products such as milk and peanut punch have been spoiling as they need to remain refrigerated. He also notes that the alcohol that he sells can not get too hot or they might be a health hazard to customers. He says because of this he has had to discard of some of his goods.
And as for the fisherfolk their livelihood have been halted, completely, as they say the ice being provided is not enough to preserve their daily catch.
