Residents of Harbour Heights in St. Andrew can expect major repairs of two roadways starting next week. Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams says the work will be funded using the special repairs grant.
The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, (KSAMC) has partnered with Councillor Jacqueline Lewis to repair two roadways in Harbour Heights, Kingston.
Kingston Mayor, Delroy Williams says the roadways were recently damaged by flood waters, he notes that the Municipality is looking to do road works so residents will be able to use the roadway again.
Mayor Williams says the money for the repairs will come from the Special Grant for Emergency Fund (SGR). According to him, roadwork is set to begin next week. He notes that Municipality is doing an emergency, short term fix to the roadway and in the long-term, more extensive work will be done. He notes that this is in an effort to ensure that residents are no longer inconvenienced.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for St. Andrew East rural, Juliet Holness noted that major repairs are also scheduled for the Cane River Road and others in East Rural St. Andrew. Holness says some of these repairs will begin before the end of the year.
