The issue of non-functioning street lights in some areas of the Trafalgar Division has become extremely problematic. Being without serviceable streetlights in this division for as long as six months have pushed the councilor for the area to take matters into her own hands for the safety of residents.
Andrew Swaby Councilor for the Vineyard Town division found that eighty (80) streetlights were malfunctioning along Sir Florizel Glasspole Avenue as well as sections of Parade and Deanery Road in Kingston. Swaby reached out to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) but was informed that the establishment does not have any of the relevant materials to rectify the matter.
Kari Douglas, Councillor for the Trafalgar Division is willing to contact independent contractors to assist even if this comes with an additional cost as this is paramount in the prevention of theft and other serious crimes.
