The country’s health response has been boosted by the acquisition of 19 oxygen concentrators at the Bustamante Hospital for Children(BCH).
At the handing over ceremony, Prime Minister Andrew Holness asserts that the country is still facing the major threat of COVID-19.
In anticipating a possible fourth wave of COVID-19, Prime Minister Holness says Jamaica will be in a far better position, by increasing health care supplies.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of medical equipment at the Bustamante Hospital for Children on Thursday, he says the oxygen concentrators received will play a pivotal role in sustaining lives.
Holness lauded the positive Jamaica foundation after acquiring 19 oxygen concentrators. He says it is just a fraction of what the health sector needs.
Meanwhile, he notes if there should be an upsurge in cases Jamaica would struggle despite the number of oxygen concentrators.
