Residents of Melbrook heights in Harbour View St. Andrew are breathing a sigh of relief after construction began on a deplorable roadway in their community.
The fixtures come months after heavy rains damaged the road, making a bad situation even more unbearable. Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams says several other roads within the municipality are being considered for repair.
Heavy rains earlier this year destroyed several roads across the island. Some remain badly damaged while others have been rehabilitated.
Residents recall the condition of the road prior to the repair. Mayor Williams says while touring sections of the municipality several roads were considered and examined for fixtures and added that scheduled inspections of roads in the municipality are conducted on a regular basis.
