There is a new performance indicator that ranks Jamaica as one of the most sustainably developed countries in the world, according to the Sustainable Development Index (SDI) which assesses the “ecological efficiency of human development”, Jamaica is ranked 23rd of 163 measured nations.
The SDI promotes a new vision for progress in the 21st century and includes five indicators: education, life expectancy, income, CO2 emissions and material footprint.
To discuss the new metric as well as other issues relating to sustainable development we welcome Gender and Development Advocate Judith Wedderburn and Stephen Snider, Harvard University, Masters Student in Development Practices (MDP).
