While reiterating that Jamaica will not be returning to lockdown mode, Prime Minister Andrew Holness continues to make it clear that Jamaicans have to take personal responsibility.
While noting that other countries have started to return to normality, Prime Minister Holness on Tuesday told the House of Representatives that the government has not given up on the vaccination programme, noting that it will devise another public health campaign to encourage citizens to take the jab.
At the same time, he has rejected claims that the government has given up on the Covid-19 measures. The current measures have been extended until February 10 and despite the country still grappling with the fourth wave of infections, the Prime Minister says there was no need for the government to examine new measures, asserting that it has been very strategic in its planning.
The prime minister stresses that after nearly two years citizens are well aware of their responsibility in the fight against the virus.
