The most fundamental pillar of the crime consensus signed in 2020 is the social and cultural transformation programmes within communities, that’s according to Chairman of the committee Lloyd Distant.
Crime continues to pose a major threat to sustainable development, as criminals wreak havoc daily across the country. An area of focus for the crime consensus monitoring and oversight committee, CMOC is the prioritization of effective community and social and economic programmes.
In evaluating the proposed initiatives of the consensus, chairman of the committee Lloyd Distant says the framework for renewal already exists. Manager of the community renewal programme, within the Planning Institute of Jamaica Charles Clayton, highlights some of the areas of focus for these violent communities. The executive director of the committee concedes that transforming these communities is fraught with difficulties.
