The Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts (EMCVPA) continues to celebrate its 45th anniversary under the theme ‘Rising. Responding’ with its annual Founders Week from March 6 – 11, 2022. Every year since 2010, the College dedicates a week of activities to honouring our founders for their contribution to the transition from the Cultural Training Centre to the now Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.
Through this years’ initiatives, we are hoping to raise 45 million dollars to enhance the Colleges’ resources. We will begin our week with a Thanksgiving service at the Vera Moody Concert Hall on Sunday March 6, 2022, starting at 4:00 p.m. The week of activities will also include the official launch of our 45th celebrations on Monday March 7, 2022, on the College Grounds.
The week of activities will also include
- March 8 – Creative Conversations via Facebook and Electric Boogie – our Women’s Day celebration
- March 9 – SAMH Celebrating Research in the Arts Day
- March 10 – Gender and Development Lecture under the theme ‘Gendered Perspective of the Impact of COVID-19 on Vulnerable SMEs in Jamaica’ with keynote speaker Professor Rosalea Hamilton, CEO, Lasco Chin Foundation
- March 11 – Coffee Morning with Dr.Amina Blackwood Meeks.
The public is invited to tune in to @EdnamanleyCollege on Facebook and Instagram and @Edna Manley College EMCVPA on YouTube to share in our celebrations.
