Jamaica was among six countries that recently received Level 1 Guidance from the United States Centres for Disease Control (CDC) for COVID-19 risk to tourists. Level 1 guidance means the risk of COVID-19 infection is very low. While this is welcomed news for the local tourism sector, Senior Strategist and Adviser in the ministry Delano Seiveright says some US visitors ignore the CDC’s travel guidance.
Not too long-ago travelers in the United States were warned that due to high cases of COVID-19 infections they ought to reconsider traveling to sun destinations such as Jamaica.
The narrative has shifted with Jamaica’s consistently lower rates of reported covid-19 infection. Seiveright however is reiterating that this new development does not mean it’s time to throw caution to the wind. More details in the report:
