The Clarendon Police Division did a walk-through in the community of Hayesfield on Wednesday, in a campaign to curtail crime and violence. The police are also spreading awareness to residents, on the importance of parents monitoring their children at all cost, warning them of charges they may face for negligence. The Clarendon police division will be carrying out special operations in the Hayesfield Community, in its push to eradicate violent crimes in the troubled area. This follows the gruesome murder of an eight year old in the community recently, leaving residents worried about their well-being.
Head of operations for the Clarendon Police Division, DSP Anton-Gur Cardoza, is urging residents to work with the police to rid the area of gangsters. One resident shares she welcomes the JCF’s crime fighting plan, as she hopes to see a safer community. This has been the community’s most recent incident, as two toddlers ages three and four, lost their lives in a devastating fire three weeks ago.
DSP Cardoza is warning parents not to leave their children unattended. He says parents could face punitive measures for the act of negligence. Meanwhile, he points out the responsibility does not fall solely on parents, but if the parent should leave their child with an adult, they now have a duty of care to the child.
