Shattered glass, yellow tape and wrecked equipment are just some of the sightings, following an explosion at a Scotia Bank ATM in Port Antonio. The cause of the explosion is still unknown, however the Portland police suspect it was prompted by criminal activities. The estimated damage amounted to well over 12 million dollars. An explosion at a scotia bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Port Antonio, Portland, has left one person injured, and has caused severe wreckage to sections of the premises.
In fact, there’s an estimated loss of twelve million dollars, which the police say is likely to increase significantly. Reports are that the explosion happened at about 4:15 Saturday morning. However, senior deputy superintendent of the Jamaica Fire Brigade Emeleo Ebanks says his team was able to contain the fire within about five minutes from arrival. Although the cause of the explosion is unknown at this time, the Portland police say they suspect foul play. Superintendent chin says it’s all hands on deck as they try to get to the bottom of what led to the fire.
