Matters are quickly escalating in Moore Town, Portland as some Maroons are taking measures to overthrow current Maroon Chief, Colonel Wallace Sterling. The Chief is seeking police assistance as he says he feels threatened. However, the Portland police are making it clear; they have no say in Maroon politics. They will however, be providing officers to secure the town before and after the elections.
The Portland police are intensifying their efforts to ensure no one gets hurt during a controversial election slated to happen in Maroon community, Sunday. CVM Live understands there’s a squabble between the incumbent, Chief Colonel Sterling and his challenger, eighteen-year-old Lomorra Dillon. Colonel sterling insists no election can be held as it has not been approved.
He’s also accusing leader of the Accompong Maroons Chief Currie of pushing Dillon to challenge him. While the police say they will not get involved in the internal conflict, they’re vowing to ensure no one gets hurt as sterling reports receiving threats. Superintendent Chin says the matter of whether an election should be held, is outside of the police’s line of responsibility. Meanwhile, Chin says an event is being advertised to be held in Moore Town. He’s advising the Maroons that no permission has been granted for such event.
