The leader of the People’s National Party, Mark Golding is demanding the Government of Jamaica be transparent with the country’s finances. This comes on the heels of the undisclosed figure for resources that were poured into Kamina Johnson-Smith‘s failed bid to become Secretary General of the Commonwealth.
Speaking at a National Executive Council meeting in St. Mary on Sunday, PNP President Mark Golding, demanded transparency from the government on regarding several matters. Golding criticized the government for financial mishaps that have occurred in recent times. The opposition leader says the country’s use of resources to back Kamina Johnson-Smith, in her failed bid to become secretary general of the commonwealth, was misguided, and he believes Jamaicans are owed an explanation regarding the funding she received.
Adding to the country’s financial dilemma, Golding says the recent 4.5 % reduction in fertilizer cost announced by the government is not enough. As he laments the party’s activism, the PNP Leader says conversations are underway to begin expanding the party to include members of the diaspora. Prior to this, the party only provided membership to those on the Jamaican voters list.
