Following the murder of 61 year old Chieftin Campbell by a mob, family members are demanding that everyone involved be brought to justice. So far, only one person has been charged with the murder.
Orlando Powell, a Taxi Operator, has been the sole person charged with the murder. Campbell’s family gathered outside the Mandeville courthouse Wednesday morning, for Powell’s hearing, where they awaited answers from the police regarding the progress of the investigation.
Chieftin’s youngest sister, Florence Dunkley, is demanding the mob killing be treated as such. She says the family’s demanding a swift conviction for Powell, and the others involved. She’s pleading with the general public to desist from taking the law into their hands.
The next hearing for the case against Powell is scheduled for September 14.
