Defective street lights have been an area of concern for many communities across Jamaica. Earlier this week a resolution was presented to the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation‘s meeting regarding the longstanding issue in the corporate area. A major highlight coming out of the KSAMC meeting on Tuesday was the repairs and reconstruction of street lights in the corporate area.
Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams tells CVM Live that the lack of effective street lights in sections of Kingston has been a longstanding issue. One major thoroughfare is the Harbour View to downtown route.
Mayor Williams notes while the municipality doesn’t have the exact amount of street lights defective, there’s a large number of defective ones across Kingston. He says there’s great importance for the purpose they serve. While moving a resolution minority caucus leader, Councillor Andrew Swaby appealed to the utility provider to act with urgency.
