Hundreds of citizens were out in the streets of the corporate area on Monday to participate in the Emancipation Day float and parade. The event saw government officials, members of the defense force and float performers highlighting aspects of Jamaica’s culture.
The floats began movement from the Ranny Williams Entertainment Center on Hope Road and traversed Half Way Tree Road, along Oxford Road, and made a final stop at the National Stadium on Arthur Wint Drive. Among the government officials who were present were Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Minister of Culture Olivia Babsy Grange, and Opposition Leader Mark Golding.
