Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton has announced that approximately 3,500 Monkeypox vaccines will become available to Jamaicans later this month. The vaccines being short in supply will however be limited to persons who have been exposed to the virus.
By the end of the month, locals can expect a shipment of monkeypox vaccines to help contain the spread of the virus. On Tuesday Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton told the parliament two new monkeypox cases have pushed the overall confirmed numbers to nine.
The Minister notes over 45 persons have had close contact with the infected persons. He says through a collaborative effort with the Pan American Health Organization, PAHO, Jamaica will soon receive Monkeypox vaccines.
