The Justice Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with several church groups aimed at providing restorative justice training as the crime wave rises.

The move seeks to find new ways of settling conflicts between families while preventing disputes in communities.The MOU is linked by leaders of 13 umbrella group of churches and the Ministry of Justice. The group represents over 3000 congregations across the island.

Justice Minister Delroy Chuck explained how the training would be undertaken. He told the Parliament Tuesday there are high expectations for this collaborative effort; he also reiterated violent conflicts in schools and communities are prevalent. Minister Chuck says this can cause a breakdown in relationships among the parties involved resulting in reprisal killings. Watch the full report:
