After the continuous garbage build-up in Linstead, St Catherine, one People’s National Party (PNP) Councillor is demanding a swift fix in the short term. His plea comes days before the island suffered flood rains from Hurricane Ian.

PNP Councillor for the Linstead Division, Herbert Garriques, is frustrated with the National Solid Waste Management Authority’s (NSWMA) improper garbage collection in the town. He’s insisting there should be arrangements for the collection of garbage on a daily basis, given the high flow of waste in the commercial hub. Garriques says the garbage pile-up is due to the NSWMA’s inability to carry out its duty, adding it is not the responsibility of the municipality. In the meantime, the Opposition Member is insisting that other locations in the town are being neglected by the authority.

The Councillor is calling on the NSWMA to find a proper solution in short order. More details below:
