Youth Group Wants Harassment Of Workers
Mr. Simpson explained that his group was concerned that a harassed employee may be forced to take action to protect him or herself and this action may land him in disciplinary troubles with the employer.
He got support from committee member and trade union Leader Senator Kavan Gayle.
Senator Sophia Fraser-Binns said there was no reason why the matter could not be addressed in the legislation.
Amidst disagreements that such instances of sexual harassment may be dealt with under other pieces of legislation, Senator Donna Scott Mottley pointed to provisions in the bill which mandate that an employer take reasonable steps to ensure employees are not sexually harassed in the course of their employment.
