Twelve newborns lost their lives due to bacterial infections at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital last year. During a recently held press conference at the Terra Nova Hotel in St Andrew,  Chief Medical officer Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie says 54 infections were also identified between January to December 2022.

The facilities visited by PAHO include the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, Bustamante Hospital for Children, and Spanish Town Hospital. The CMO further explains that the ministry is charging the facilities to avoid the challenges identified.
