Motorists who use their debit or credit card to purchase gas have seemingly been paying more for the commodity as opposed to cash in hand. This has also been putting a strain on the pockets of motorists, amid the fluctuating gas prices.
Speaking with CVM LIVE on Monday, President of the Jamaica Gasoline Retailers Association (JGRA) Erroll Edwards noted those retailers in particular are not part of the JGRA. He explains that JRGA’s concern in regard to banking fees is nothing new, as the association addressed financial institutions in the past. The JGRA Boss also says the association at no point instructed its members to the practice of overcharging. This is while noting the JGRA does not support retailers who do. He also points out the fact that it will be to the detriment of retailers when bombarded with exorbitant fees for processing debit and credit cards. Watch the report:
