Prime Minister Andrew Holness challenged regional leaders to encourage North America to do more in preventing the flow of illegal guns into the Caribbean.
Speaking at the Inaugural Regional Crime Summit in Trinidad, Monday Mr Holness says it is unfair that the region has not received as much support in stemming the illegal gun trade from the United States of America despite helping the US to plug the drug trade. When Prime Minister Andrew Holness makes his way back from the two-day crime summit in Trinidad and Tobago, regional leaders will remember his challenge in the crime fight.
Holness’ challenge follows his conclusion that regional leaders must invest more to tackle the evolving crime and violence spanning the last three decades. Holness deemed it an unfair trade between the region and the us that they benefit from regional support in clamping down on the drug trade while the region struggles to keep out illegal guns coming from North America.
