The Optimist International Caribbean District will be hosting their ‘Oratorical Contest’ on Saturday, April 29 and the Communications Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Competition on May 6. This year marks the 95th staging of the competition. Since its inception in 1928, the Optimist Oratorical Contest has become the longest-running program sponsored by Optimist International. The contest is designed for youth to gain experience in public speaking and provide them with the opportunity to compete for a college scholarship. Lieutenant Governor and Oratorical Contest Co-Chair, Suzanne Brown and Chairperson Communication Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CCDHH) Gayon Knight joined us on Sunrise to share more about the event.
