While there is no detailed tracking of domestic violence against men prior to 2021, stakeholders are confidently reporting that men have become more vocal and are now reporting in droves to several Domestic Violence Intervention Centres across the island. Head of the Domestic Violence Intervention Centres, DSP Jacqueline Dillon explains that Jamaican culture and socialization prevent men from unabashedly expressing themselves, still holding on to ancient ideas of masculinity.
