‘Changing the face of farming one hydroponic unit at a time!’ was the order of the day when Robert Montague visited the Carron Hall High School to check on a hydroponic unit that he donated as a part of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) spend.
The school has since produced chemical-free crops and has trained community members in the process to expand their knowledge with this advancement. Montague says the Oracabessa High School was also given one, hoping its introduction will peak student interest. Carron Hall High School is second on the island-wide list of consistent 100% passes in CXC Agriculture. The school has produced three crops and currently supplies the canteen and a supermarket in Highgate as part of an agreement with the Member of Parliament there has to be a knowledge transfer, thus community farmers have begun learning and training in hydroponics farming with two farmers having already built their own systems.
