With the government tabling a motion in parliament that proposes changes to the law that would allow for local government and general elections to be held at the same time the first thing that may come to mind is Director of elections Glasspole Brown indicating that the country could save some $750 million if Local Government and general elections were conducted simultaneously.
It has the additional benefit of limiting the potential spread of COVID-19, but is the move entirely positive or is there drawbacks to the potential merger?
