It is a campaign based on achievements over the past 4 years. Jamaica Labour Party spokesperson Kamina Johnson Smith outlined the objectives of the building back stronger campaign at a virtual news conference on Friday.”We need certainty to reopen our schools, we need certainty to encourage investment for recovery, we need certainty to drive the development and action needed for Jamaica to recover stronger. We have been a caring government and we will continue to be,” said Smith. “We come to the people of Jamaica to ask for the honour for once more surviving you.”
However, the bulk of the news conference was focused on achievements made by the Jamaica Labour Party across several sectors. This was delivered by campaign spokesperson Dr. Nigel Clarke who started on economic growth.
“We have had low and stable inflation for the past four years, poverty declined under our administration by forty percent the lowest levels in ten. We abolished the minimum tax. We abolished the asset tax both of it were inhibitors to small business.”
The People’s National Party kicked off its campaign with a road tour in St Catherine which started at the constituency office of Fitz Jackson in South St Catherine with a workers meeting.
