The Parish of St James has seen a reduction in all categories of crime. That is according to the Commanding Officer for the parish, Superintendent Vernon Ellis who says the policing effort by officers has been effective. The announcement was made at the recent Municipal Council meeting where the Commanding Officer for the parish provided an update.
He spoke about the conditions on the day of the September 3 General Election and how officers were able to function. These measures include enforcing the protocols under the Disaster Risk Management Act. The senior cop says the police embarked on an Internal Interventional Programme including students from communities in the parish.
The crime rate in St James has always been an issue for security forces. Enhanced security measures along with social intervention were implemented to control the spike.
Now, there is a reduction in all categories of crime. Police officers are hoping that this will not change.
