Health Authorities Urge Compliance: With the country’s COVID-19 tally inching pass eleven thousand five hundred, and nearly three hundred deaths so far, health authorities say 2021 could be just as worrisome unless Jamaicans comply.
This as the authorities note continued breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act, and other safety measures.
Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says the festive season is expected to increase the risks of transmission.
He says the lawless nature of some Jamaicans could lead to their demise.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer Dr Jacquiline Bisasor Mckenzie says as the country approaches another surge, Jamaicans should brace for more deaths.
Dr. Mckenzie notes that males continue to succumb to the virus more than their female counterparts, accounting for one hundred and fifty of the two hundred and seventy COVID-19 deaths so far.
She also notes that the authorities have been managing another cluster of the virus at another St. Catherine facility.
Dr. Mckenzie says every parish is being affected by the virus. She is urging all Jamaicans to take the necessary precautions.
