KSAMC and the JCF on maintaining order amid the festive season – The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal corporation (KSAMC) and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) held a meeting earlier on Monday to analyze and discuss the strategic measures to be put in place for the Christmas season. In recent months there have been a series of illegal parties across the corporate area and the municipality is adamant about maintaining order.
As illegal parties become a common trend and criminals take advantage of these events to carry out acts of violence, the KSAMC and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) on Monday, December 14 convened a meeting, to discuss law enforcement during the festive season.
Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams says the municipality has not been granting permits to promoters since the pandemic. He notes that this has dealt a massive blow to the municipality’s revenues, which have dipped by almost 25 per cent.
The mayor says he not only empathetic towards members of the entertainment fraternity, but he also hopes for the swift revival of the economy. Mayor Williams says the municipality has also been receiving numerous complaints of illegal parties in manor park, St Andrew. He says the KSAMC will be taking the appropriate actions.
Meanwhile, senior superintendent of police, SSP Steve Mcgregor says illegal parties are often used by gangs to settle disputes. And he notes a trend in under-aged children at these illegal events. The officer is imploring parents not to consent to minors attending such events.
