Major outreach: On Friday the life of the 14-year-old windscreen wiper, Kevon and his family seemed brighter as they received national attention, after we aired his story.
Two days later, the transformation began. Jamaicans stepped up in a big way, to ensure the family’s Christmas would be more blissful than usual.
The CVM news team was on hand to witness donations from at least two sponsors. One, popular social media site Dear Dream and philanthropist Kaneil Cole, an investigator at the Office of the Public Defender. They showed up with well-needed essentials for Kevon, his disabled mother and his siblings.
Smiles, praises, eyes welled up with tears and resonating sounds of gratitude filled the yard as the samaritans offloaded items that they managed to accumulate.
To add, Nadeisha says she is thankful for all the help and support she has received and dumbfounded at how generous people were towards her. She highlighted that many people started calling her phone on Saturday night from all over the world showering her with support and words of encouragement.
The man of the house, Kevon was the most surprised. The usually talkative lad, stood dazed at the goodwill strangers as they took time out to show his family support.
