Ariff Butler is an all-around creative who has created some of the most memorable cinematographic masterpieces produced in Jamaica. Watch the interview below to hear him share:
Butler’s journey with music started when he was a member of a group called Krush during his high school tenure at Holmwood Technical High School. This was the beginning of what would later be a major part of his career. Butler fell in love with photography came when he got a summer job at a photo studio. Following the death of one of his group members, he decided to move to Kingston for a break and a change of pace. Butler worked at a popular photo studio where his brand began to flourish, picking up multiple wedding jobs and building a brand-loyal clientele. Over time, his longing for music led to his desire to start a music studio and after selling his photography equipment to invest in his record studio, Bloozick Records was born in 2005.
On the production end, Butler worked with an array of artistes in the secular and gospel industry, producing hits for big names such as Beenie Man, Oscar B, Ryan Mark and DJ Nicholas. Major credit to his name is gospel artiste Jabez’s biggest hit to date, “Drinking From My Saucer.” Over time, he felt that he had grown beyond the music industry and was ready to tap into more of his creative abilities; as a result, his company was expanded to Bloozick Filmworks in 2009, currently operating under the Bloozick Multimedia Ltd. umbrella.
