Founder of the ‘I Have A Heart’ Foundation, Abi-Gaye Smythe, will host her 9th blood drive on Saturday, January 7. The initiative is in aid of the foundation’s cardiac mission where they have partnered with doctors for sixteen patients to receive free heart surgery between January 16- 20. The Friends of Montefiore CT Surgical team has traveled around the world to provide free reparative cardiac surgeries. The team will be traveling to Jamaica to provide lifesaving healthcare and educational services. With over 600 patients on the waiting list, the team will perform 17-20 lifesaving surgeries for adolescents and young adults during their visit. This type of cardiothoracic surgery on these patients is unprecedented in Jamaica due to a lack of clinical resources.
