Lavar K. Drummond is a Jamaican native who migrated to Detroit as a kid in the early ’90s and discovered a love for telling children stories. He’s gifted at making reading exciting for kids while highlighting the rewards for parents. Lavar’s passion for helping early readers grew while he worked at a K-8 institution as the Dean of Students. This environment fueled his skill of teaching developmental intelligence through magical stories. He has served in the field of education for well over a decade, seamlessly navigating between K-12 and higher education institutions, where he has taught as a college instructor. “But no favoritism,” says Lavar. His experience across all educational levels has enabled him to understand fundamental differences among various types of learners, which has given him hands-on experience that has tailored his personal approach as an educator. Most people would consider Lavar a down-to-earth man: a lover of his family, nature, traveling, Lions football, and living a healthy physical and mental lifestyle. He serves in the mental health field as a Licensed Professional Counselor. This gives him the opportunity to help individuals maximize their potential and live their best lives.
