Confusing Heart Attack For Other Illnesses

It is vital to diagnose a heart attack or stroke correctly. Oftentimes a heart attack is confused with other illnesses such as angina, aortic aneurysm dissection, and a blood clot in the lung among others illnesses.

Symptoms of a heart attack include chest pain or discomfort, upper body discomfort, pain that radiates down the left arm, shortness of breath, a cold sweat, nausea, light-headedness or dizziness and tiredness. Symptoms also vary between individuals. Some people have no symptoms or very mild symptoms and experience what is called a “silent heart attack.”
