Kimanni Morgan has always wanted to be his own boss; so in 2020 when Covid-19 hit and the country was shut down, there was an opportunity to provide culinary services to a public that was “under lockdown”. Steps were then taken towards pursuing the dream of starting his own business. Morgan started out by doing pop up kitchen from home. This involved making and selling salads and wraps to family members, friends and former co-workers. However he was more interested in the restaurant fine dining experience.
The thinking was, if I could give customers that same restaurant dining experience in the comfort of their homes this would be an excellent way to capture potential clients who were experiencing limited movements given social distancing and other measures used to reduce the spread of Covid-19. This fine dining experience would include special occasions such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries or just a memorable family meal. It is about giving a fine dining restaurant experience in one’s own living space.
“It has been a great experience so far, which has helped me to express myself through food by showcasing my talent and passion for my craft on plate and also taking the customer on a culinary journey” says Morgan. He has received great feedback and encouragement from customers so far, although business’ is not growing at the rate expected due to minimal promotion and lack of adequate kitchen space. However, he sees great potential for the business in the near future.
His mission remains taking the restaurant to the client in the luxury of their home, providing a fine dining experience.
