April is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer among Jamaican women and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among Jamaican women. Overall, cervical cancer is the sixth most common cancer among Jamaicans and the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths among Jamaicans. Most cases of cervical cancer are caused by infection with Human papillomavirus (HPV). Many persons who have sex get HPV at some point in their lives. The Director of Non-Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health & Wellness, Dr. Tamu Davidson educated us about Cervical cancer. Find out more in the interview below.
